music

i'm a musician! i play live! i'll think of better sentences to put here later!

the flowchart

my discography has become complex enough over the years that it's hard to recommend a single starting point to people who ask, so i've made a flowchart. start here!

chiptune

chipmusic has become my primary output these days -- NES expansion stuff, to be specific. it's what i perform live the vast majority of the time. i've explored other systems to write for, but haven't yet come up with any releases for those -- except for my 2024 album "Familial Verses" (upcoming), which makes of the Virtual Boy and Game Boy in tandem (a first in chiptune, by the way!). check out a music video for that!

major releases are highlighted in maroon.

...especially any of this

EP, 2023

a collection of tracks intended for 2018's "nothing is for sure," newly refurbished.

f-stop

EP, 2022

a collection of tracks intended for 2021's "florence" but which didn't fit the concept.

florence

LP, 2021

alternative metal concept album. seven years in the making; my most complete vision.

Petriform

LP, 2020

eclectic compilation of flex-y compo entries.

Dither Beach

LP, 2020

sunny pop punk w/ prog influences. released immediately before the world changed.

nothing is for sure

LP, 2018

front-to-back pop punk victory lap. probably my signature album at this point.

Don't Worry, You're Great!

LP, 2016

cheerful in the face of the worst. prototypical of the pop punk stuff that came after. more fast ska, more slow, pensive jams.

Veneer

LP, 2014

chip / drum & bass hybrid. some signature songs persist.

assorted EDM (drum & bass, happy hardcore, trance)

believe it or not, i do (did?) more than just chiptunes. this used to be most of what i wrote, but chipmusic kind of took over. it happens.

major releases are highlighted in maroon.

Relentless Eventful II

LP, 2022

took long enough.

Relentless Eventful

LP, 2012

packed to the brim with whatever i found myself writing at the time. a mainstay of my early shows.

Exposition

LP, 2010

the origin story.

folktronica / synth baroque pop or something

i really don't know what to call it other than that. listen and find out?

major releases are highlighted in maroon.

Ultramarine

LP, 2017

pensive, highly vocal (including off-vocoder) depression tunes. contemporary with "don't worry, you're great!" probably my most personal album.

Brown Plaid

LP, 2013

my first foray into this sort of thing, whatever this sort of thing is. the beginnings of vocoder town.
